Inter Club Competition 2006
On Saturday, 4th February 2006 the Harewood Space Sports and Arts
at the Robert Atkinson Centre in Thornaby, Stockton On Tees, was
the venue for the first T.A.S.K. Inter Club Karate Tournament, in
Association with Karate International.
The event was organised by Mark Raistrick (4th Dan)
T.A.S.K. Chief Instructor. The event proved to be an enormous success
with over 150 competitors plus spectators attending from clubs around
the northern area.
Clubs in attendance were Middlesbrough Karate Academy,
Sunderland Karate Academy, Providence Shotokan (Sheffield), Karate
International (Leeds), Whitby T.S.K.A., Hartlepool Wadokai, Sho
Shin Kai (Durham) and, of course, the hosts Teesside Academy Shukokai
Karate.
The event started and finished on time and by using
two areas the eliminations were able to move along quickly, thanks
to the officials and referees. The competition was run using the
W.K.F. rules with some slight changes. The main change was a no
facial attack rule in the cadet kumite section.
With excellent trophies up for grabs, the standards
for the day were very high, especially as some of the competitors
were competing for the first time.
Sensei Raistrick would like to thank all the officials
for the excellent service throughout the day, Sensei Derek Laing
of Sunderland Karate Academy for being the Chief Referee for the
day, Sensei David Barber (T.A.S.K.), the first aiders and all the
helpers behind the scenes for making the event such a success, we
hope to make this an annual event.
